the quirky little things I'll miss...

When I eventually leave this old workers cottage on Brisbane's bayside and move permantly up to the Sunshine Coast, these are the quirky little things I'll miss.

My front door, chipped vintage green...

The original front door which had been enclosed inside, opening up into the hallway. I love the handle and knocker.

the amazing filigree features above all doors and hallway, typical of cottages of their era.

The old dresser I have to leave behind.

Believe it or not, my bathroom door!

My back door knob and the weather boards in much need of a paint job!

This is the rental where I've lived for the past 12 years....I am relieved I am moving to a home where everything works and there is no mould on the ceilings, or termites in the walls, but at the same time sad to leave these little bits and pieces which tell a story about this old house!

I just hope it still stands and gets some love and attention after I leave and not bulldozed.

Anyone else out there attached to quirky old door knobs and weather boards fit for demolition?

we lived in a very old rundown weatherboard house before we lived here. loved it except it was boiling hot in summer and freezing cold in winter.

  4. So charming. I can see why one would miss it.

Our place is only 70 years old and we scraped and sanded the interior doors to save them. It was such a hard job, but it was so worth it, because doors are not made that way anymore.
